We love the holiday season in our house. The days grow shorter but cozier, and the chill in the air has a buzz of excitement. Even our everyday routines feel more festive somehow. There’s a magic in celebrating family traditions and creating new ones together. We love watching our children’s excitement as decorations come out and lights go up. As the year ends, it’s the perfect time to reflect on our lives and loved ones with gratitude. Cuddles, heartfelt cards, and thoughtful gifts are how we mark the season. We’ve put together some ideas and would love to hear yours, too!
1. A handmade card
Making handmade cards for loved ones is a wonderful holiday tradition that creates lasting memories as a family.
A great way to get started is by talking to your child about someone they’re grateful for. Is there a special quality or memory they want to share? Maybe Grandma gives the best hugs, or Cousin always makes time to play. Write down their gratitude on a blank card or piece of paper, then let it inspire their drawing.

2. A framed print
Creating a space filled with joyful, fun images is a wonderful way to spark your kids’ imaginations.
This festive season, we’re offering framed prints at Colorful Bunch, each inspired by a memory with our children. These pieces are a perfect addition to any nursery or playroom.
We also love reusing frames to swap out art for something seasonal—or even homemade! Try taping down a piece of cardstock with masking tape to create a clean border, then set your kids up with crayons or markers. Our favorite washable markers from OMY are still in stock at our pop-up! Once your little artist finishes, remove the tape and frame their masterpiece. It’s a simple way to celebrate their creativity and show them how much their effort means. Don’t forget the artist’s signature for the final touch!

3. Dress up essentials
A dress-up box can be a never-ending source of fun for the whole family. Every day brings a new character and story as children let their imaginations run wild. Their creativity knows no bounds—a sock can become a puppet, paper and scissors can make a crown, and curtains over a doorway can transform into a stage.

4. Puzzle with a DIY twist
Our kids grow and learn so quickly! Simple shape-matching puzzles are perfect for little ones to explore. As they grow, they’ll enjoy the challenge of fitting shapes into the right slots.
A sweet way to make these puzzles even more special is by adding special photos behind the shapes, combining their curiosity about the world with their love for family.
For this project, you’ll need a shape-matching puzzle (we still have a few Gladfolk puzzles at our pop-up!), family photos with faces sized to fit the shapes, a pencil, scissors, and glue or tape. Use the puzzle pieces to trace and cut matching photos, then secure them behind the slots with glue or tape. That’s it! Watch your little one’s delight as they discover the surprise behind each shape.

5. Bath time fun
Bath time is pure magic for little ones—and it’s easy to see why! Let’s be honest, the only toy you really need is the water itself.
For extra fun, add a splash of bubble bath for endless sparkly bubbles, or drop in a scented bath bomb and watch it fizz. The excitement is contagious!

6. Story time classics
Of all the things we’ve gathered for our children over the years, their book collection feels the most precious. The time spent reading together—especially in the evening with our little sleepyheads—is so sweet. Our kids return to their favorite books again and again, finding joy in the imaginative stories, beautiful prose, and the family time they create. Some books and characters stay with you forever.
In our house, we adore Sandra Boynton, so we’ve included a sizable collection at our pop-up this season including our holiday favorites, Moo, Baa, Fa La La La La! and Merry Christmas, Little Pookie. When gifting books, one idea we love is adding a special message, the date, and your signature. It’s a meaningful touch that makes every read even more special, knowing it carries a note from a loved one.

7. Matching cozy basics
Matching outfits never fail to delight our kids. They love seeing our twinning reflection in the mirror, all smiles—and we love the joy it brings to the whole family.
At Colorful Bunch, we make cozy basics year-round, but our everyday pullover is a favorite this time of year. Made from soft organic cotton with a relaxed fit, it’s perfect for maximum comfort. Each piece features an embroidered patch of one of our classic fruit characters—Meyer is our little lemon, and Imogen is our little blueberry. Wearing these pieces together feels like the perfect way to match.

8. Anything with wheels
One of the first things we noticed when our friends started having kids is how wheels of any kind can provide endless entertainment for little ones. Now, with our own kids, we see it even more—cars and trucks are fascinating! First, they figure out how they work, and then they create endless stories and games around them.
This season at Colorful Bunch, we have something special for all the wheel lovers out there. Our Luke’s Toy Factory eco-trucks are perfect because all of their pieces are interchangeable, leaving plenty of room for your child's imagination to run wild.

9. Extra shimmer
Jewelry is easy to wear every day and can hold so much meaning. We love this as a gift idea for littles to parents or other family members. We've stocked some colorful and whimsical pieces from Gem & Blue this season that make the perfect gift.
We also love DIY versions of this idea. We've been making a lot of friendship bracelets in our house recently and it couldn't be simpler. All you need to get started is some embroidery floss or yarn and a pair of scissors. Cut three strands to about twice the length of the desired size of the finished piece, knot them together at the top, and then braid or knot the strands together to form the bracelet.

10. Meal time fun
Gathering around the table for special meals is one of our favorite parts of this season. There are certain dishes we all look forward to enjoying and we find ourselves lingering over our plates for conversation and laughter.
This season at our pop up we have colorful porcelain trays and cups, each with our signature character design to make these times even more fun and memorable. The porcelain is sturdy and microwave/dishwasher safe, making it perfect for day-to-day use. The cups come in two sizes, perfect for matching with little ones.
