Davids toothpaste: comparing stocked flavors, formulas and packaging

Davids Spearmint toothpaste tube and packaging, with a bold halftone treatment

Toothpaste can be a fairly particular preference. If spearmint is your thing, a fruit flavor may not be the change you're looking for. We carry three Davids Premium options, and the flavor names give you a good place to start.

Two kinds of mint, and a fruit option

Premium Spearmint is the straightforward spearmint choice. Premium Herbal Citrus Peppermint brings citrus, cinnamon and mint flavoring together. Kids + Adults Premium Strawberry Watermelon goes in a fruit-flavored direction.

All three stocked options are 5.25 ounce tubes with a metal tube key included. If you're replacing one you like, a photo of the full name on the old tube is handy. It keeps the formula in view as well as the flavor.

Premium isn't the same as Hydroxi

Davids identifies the original Strawberry Watermelon Premium formula as fluoride-free. The maker also has a separate Hydroxi range. A Hydroxi description doesn't apply to the original Premium toothpaste, even where a familiar flavor name appears.

Use your dentist's guidance for the formula you need, and confirm any ingredient requirements on the exact tube. Keep the package directions and warnings available to everyone using it.

The tube and its key

The included key is an accessory for the metal tube; use it following the supplied instructions. Davids' packaging FAQ also explains the maker's end-of-use guidance for the tube.

Once you've found the flavor and formula you want, save the product page for next time. For someone else's shopping, asking for that full name is easier than guessing from the color of a box.

Our family bath-product guide covers the washes and lotions elsewhere on the bathroom shelf. If you're gathering things for a trip, the Buoy bottle guide takes a closer look at what you'll carry your water in.
